Sutton Park Six Stage Relays

... and the Woman's 4 stage relays

Below Message from Nev Watson

Hi everyone,

The Midlands 6 Stage Road Relays are due to be held again at Sutton Park on Saturday 24th September at 13:30. I am trying to organise a team so would like to hear from anyone who would like to run on this date and is able to.

The race is six legs of approx 6km on the tarmac paths around Sutton Park. It’s a relay format so the next runner in the team does not begin their leg until the previous runner is back.

We entered a team for the first time last year and it’s a great event to be part of, and a good opportunity to run in a team event for the club. If you could let me know a.s.a.p that would be great so i can have an idea of numbers.

Take it easy

Nev ( nev182(at)yahoo.com )

Does anybody fancy the task of organizing a ladies FOUR stage team? { Simon Gregg }

World record 100 x 10k
Below E-Mail from Evesham Vale RC via Craig Bone

Hi Si

I have been approached by Bob Pope, a committee member of Evesham Running Club to see if I can get some support from Amazing Feet, in an attempt to break the 100x10K world record, I think talking to him it is very possible to do and would be quite fun to do, so I will send you the details, and then if you and the committee are happy with it if you could put it on the web sites and our FB page, there are other clubs helping out as obviously finding 100 fairly good 10K runners is not that easy, but in saying that we have at our club quite a few good 10K runners yourself included that could quite easily run in under 48mins it’s open to both men and women and once again we have some very good lady runners as well who could achieve that sort of time.

Cheers Mate let me know what you think??

You may have spotted from the EVRC forum that we are having a go at the world record for the fastest continuous 100 x 10k relay. The current record is 77 hr 17 min 25 sec and was set by the Florida Striders Track Club, (USA) at Bishop John J. Snyder High School, Jacksonville, Florida, USA, from 3-6 December 2009.

Target time is 75 hours for our effort; so need 100 different runners to average 45 minutes each. To make the target "safe" we expect we can go with runners capable of 48mins or less, achieving the averages by matching up faster folk (like you).

We need support of other clubs, so hoping you can get interest and bunch of runners from amazing feet - OK?

In terms of detail - and this is all provisional just now - we are thinking:
target dates start Thursday 22 September or Friday 23rd. Will therefore finish the following Sunday/Monday
track at Stratford - they can run floodlights through the night which is vital, and we have an association there
there will be a modest "race entry" fee to cover costs (but no more than a typical 10k race cost)
we'll get application forms to you to pick up expected times and preferred time slots - will be aiming to get blocks of time so all "feet" runners could follow each other.
will most likely be doing something for charity

PS dates are confirmed for 23rd Sept – 26th Sept at Stratford { Simon Gregg }

In the interest of getting some offroad runs in different places, I plan to run from these locations on Friday nights during July (can't do any in August :-( ).

All welcome. I'll aim for 6-7 miles. Be warned: will be hilly, may be muddy and may be overgrown in places. I have not run all of these before and so may involve some navigation on my part ;-). So likely not to be fast!

Friday 1 July: can't do.

Cotswold Way Challenge
I expect most people know I’m doing the Cotswold Way for charity at the beginning of July, as I don’t see many of that often, I have given a sponsor form to Sarah and Craig to drum up some sponsors for me from the Feet, I also now have a Just giving page if that is any easier for people to donate, Thank you Craig B

Due to injury and not being back in action in time, I have a number for the Blakedown Bolt on 17th June.

Up to you to change your detail with the organisers.

Here you go -

April 8 ~ DAVID WHYMANT annihilated the M65 five mile club record at Wednesday's Lilleshall 5 - knocking over 11 minutes off Lindsay Pulley's 2007 record at the old Action Heart 5. Full details are now on the RESULTS PAGE, and David's new record is confirmed on the CLUB RECORDS PAGE

Newcomers / Injury Recovery Group
Dean & Martin have decided that it was time to get involved in helping out beginner runners from the area. We plan to start on the 15th June, to give us time to create interest and for me to recover from my stress fracture.

Amazing Feets / beginners group:

To start from The Glades at 7.00pm on the 15th June 2011.

Runs to consist initially of 2 / 3 easy miles, everyone attending will be looked after and we run together as a group. This group will also benefit any member that is coming back from injury, that still wants a social run on a Wednesday.

For more information please contact: Martin Davies (07816 501 404) / Dean Gregory (07890 808 095).

**Please spread the word to get as much interest in this new venture for the club - Simon**

Very happy to help out occassionally with a "slow/short" run etc. Would it be better to be off rd ie Wyre Forest visitor centre ?? But guess we want to all meet up at the same time -so forget that !

Training Run Latest
Hi All,
Firstly I'd like to say how good it was to see Ian Hall back from the desert, running with us on what felt like the height of summer this evening.
If you haven't come to a training night for a while please be aware that there won't be any runs on the forthcoming Bank Holiday's. Runs are now also getting slightly longer around 6-8 miles to take advantage of the lighter nights,but the pace stays the same.
I'll be posting some information soon about some Friday night runs which will start again in May. I'll be leading one run a month from then on with hopefully some other club members adding their runs in the months to come.

Speak to you all soon Craig L { Craig Lewis }
